Children’s Quips from the Village of Hope

Well dear friends…
We are reaching the end of 2008 with the fast approach of Christmas and just wanted to take this time to wish you all a very,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

You have indeed honoured the children of Zimbabwe by partnering and praying with us through this very difficult of years! May God bless you in return – pressed down, shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38)!

Please remember our family and the children here with a prayer and a smile, as you enjoy a few children’s quips that we have noted and laughed at, through 2008 at the Village of Hope. We wanted to end our thoughts to you this year, with a smile….

Quotes from the children:
WHEN PRESENTING THE STORY OF THE BOY DAVID THAT WOULD BECOME KING, they said…
‘Did Samuel use cooking oil to annoint David?’
‘Maybe it was not a giant, maybe it was just a person who was wearing many clothes because a giant could not be that weak to be killed by one stone.’

WHEN TEACHING ABOUT OUR FIVE SENSES, they said….
‘With my eyes open I can hear people and cars, but when my eyes are closed, I hear God.’
‘Is that how our mouth will smell like if we don’t brush our teeth?’ (opening a small container of 3 day old onions)
‘Does God have a mouth like us, to talk with?’

WHEN TALKING OF HEALTH AND WHY WE NEED REST, they said….
‘So does that mean that everytime we sleep in the afternoon, we grow?’

WHEN PRESENTING THE STORY OF JOSEPH AND HIS ROBE OF MANY COLOURS, they said…
‘Did Joseph’s brothers sell him in a shop?’

WHEN TEACHING ABOUT HOW WE SHOULD CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER, they said….
‘Tete Zowa shows her care for us by cooking good food for us.’
(Our preschool children don’t like holidays because they miss Auntie’s cooking! She is famous for it.)

FOLLOWING A LESSON ON THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, they said….
‘We need to pray for our parents who went to steal potatoes from Tom’s farm. Some of them were praising God that they did not get caught. They need to know that stealing is wrong.’

Are you smiling yet?
God bless you!
We look forward to updating you again at the end of January, 2009!
