A medical clinic has long been a dream to complete development at the Village of Hope. From the onset, we thought that this might happen years down the road and as a last polish to the Community Outreach already happening.
But God had other plans and timing. He raised up a young girl from a small town in Ontario, Canada. When she heard about the Village of Hope, she had deep compassion for the children and the medical care they would need as they grew.
Carrie Anne started a project she called ‘Bracelets of Hope’, and in 2 ½ years, raised the funds necessary to establish a building to house the Medical Clinic by creating and selling beautifully glass beaded bracelets! She has been an inspiration not only in her Canadian community, but to adults and children alike at the Village of Hope and around Zimbabwe, and an example to us all of what God can do with the life of a child! She has also fulfilled a dream that children would begin ministering to children.
In March, 2009 we had the honour of hosting Carrie Anne, her family and a missions team from their home church who came to visit the project.
We honoured her with a ground turning ceremony and she spoke in school assemblies and services while she was here, inspiring other children and adults alike to ‘dream big’.
It is our hope that construction of the Medical Clinic will begin in late 2009. However, before we lay the first brick, there is much to do in preparation to ensure that it is sustainable long term, and in walking through the Registration process.
Please continue to pray with us and the community for this vital service to our children and neighbours.
